Large alpine lake Song-Kol (also spelt Sonkol, Song-Köl, and Son-Kul) is located in the Naryn area of Kyrgyzstan, between the inner spurs of the Tien Shan. The lake, which is 3016 metres above sea level, is ideal for eco tourism since it is bordered by hills of Sonköltoo and Moldotoo, a protection area, and pristine pastures.
The lake’s edges are low, flooded, and occasionally covered in short reeds. The lake receives water from glaciers and flows into the Son-Kul and finally the Naryn rivers. From late September until late May, there is often ice on the lake.
