Burana Tower

Burana is one of the main architectural heritages of Kyrgyzstan, which was build in the city of Balasagun. The Great Silk Road period was the initiator of the tower Burana to exist at this particular location. Balasagun formed as city at 11th – 12th century where caravans stopped for trading. Throughout the time, the city existed more than two hundred years. The life and the economy of the city was quite dependent on the tradings of the caravans. They bring goods and trade in the bazaar at the center of the city, afterward they take services from locals such as sauna, rooms, food etc. The idea of building the tower is to attract caravans from a long distance, the next idea is that it was a minaret for the mosque, moreover it was a watch tower to look for upcoming potential enemies from a long distance so to get ready to hide children and be ready for the attack. Around the city, Balasagun was protected not only with the wall surrounded but also there was river all around the wall, which was the first obstacle for the enemies.
