Tash-Rabat
A 15th-century stone caravanserai in a quiet valley on the road to China.
Tash-Rabat is a stone caravanserai tucked into a side valley of the At-Bashy range, on the old Silk Road route over the Torugart pass. Its domed hall and 30-odd rooms sheltered merchants and their animals from mountain storms.
Today a few yurt camps stand in the valley. From here you can ride or hike up to the pass above Chatyr-Kul lake for views into China.
